When the ghosts and ghouls come to Ireland…

Image via Wikipedia

An Irish Halloween is a feast of entertainment.

In old castles, bats hang ready to strike.

We dress up, feast on nuts and apple pie.

Maybe someone will find the ring?

The costumes are created to instill fear.

But the Irish always look on with humour.

Our Halloween is a time for family, and for children,

who carve out the eyes of pumpkins.

And not forgetting the trick or treating.

It’s a custom which goes back years.

And still we say ‘trick or treat’ in Ireland.
