Poetry in motion….

Twas thenight before Christmas and creatures were stirring…just not a mouse.

Scrooge was alive and well in my house.

Party Crashers were planning to invade someones space

Tiger Woods was sleeping all over the place.

Balloon Boy’s parents were planning their next move

Perhaps a rocket to take their children off to the moon.

The President was still speechifying, saying a lot

Sadly for America, what we voted for was not what we got.

Wars raged on in places far away

No end in sight with each passing day.

The East Coast was freezing and planes stayed on the ground

Weary travelers in Airports laying all around.

Al Franken was rude to poor Joe Lieberman on the Senate floor

But later they hugged and were friends forever more.

I was hoping for a better 2010

but hopes of that happening were dashed once again

When a notice arrived telling me no Social Security raise

looks like I’m in for more miserable days.

Congress is debating if they should get their usual gigantic raise

with no input from tax payers; those of us who pay.

I am asking Santa for a miracle or two

A few bites of food and a pair of new shoes

free medication for all those in need

not too much to ask, just a few simple good deeds.

So heres to the new year, a bright 2010

Please bring back prosperity even if it’s only now and then.

Let Tiger play golf and stay out of trouble

let balloon boy be safe and stay out of the bubble

Let reality television disappear from our lives

let all wars be over, remove all of the strife.

Let the President actually do something rather than talk

Let him show us that he really can walk the walk.

Happy New Year to one and all

let the words, “yes we can” mean something this time

And I apologize for writing this silly little rhyme.
