A poem especially written for and dedicated to my darling friend, Mick Foster, of the Irish duo Foster & Allen. A first class accordionist and my mentor since I was a little girl.

A soul that waited in the wings
Was born December 6th
His full name Michael Foster
But people called him Mick.

And little did he realise
He’d one day be a star
Playing sweet accordion songs
He’d go so very far.

This gentle soul was mentored well
By someone sweet and wise
His presence very fleeting
Was he an angel in disguise?

And yet behind that gorgeous smile
Is someone sweet and shy
Who doesn’t even comprehend
He touches people’s lives.

He goes along his merry way
With lovely smiles and hugs
He’s become someone so special
I love so very much.

My darling friend, shine out your light
With all that you can muster
As the world would be a boring place
Without my friend, Mick Foster.
