After reading Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” I notice that he is not just talking about the literal meaning of what this poem is about. Robert Frost has also set up this poem to have a much deeper meaning pertaining to life, just as many poets do.
After reading Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” I notice that he is not just talking about the literal meaning of what this poem is about. Robert Frost has also set up this poem to have a much deeper meaning pertaining to life, just as many poets do.
When reading the poem for the first time many will not examine it deeply, and will only think about what is written down in the poem in a literal sense. Although when a reader reads this poem a second, third and even a fourth time, they begin to see the deeper side to the poems words. Although many people will find the poem to have different meanings, each meaning will be somewhat similar.
When I first read this poem it threw me off a little bit at certain parts because they did not rhyme like I thought they should have. Although I was a little thrown off by some of the wordings throughout the poem, I did notice that this poem had a specific meaning pertaining to life. After reading the poem through a few more times it came to me that he was explaining about choices you make throughout life.
Robert Frost explains in his poem the different paths a person can take in life and that they will cause you to end up differently depending on what path you take. When Frost uses the phrase “And perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear” (7-8) it makes me think that he is telling us to take the newer path and or create our own path in life. I believe that in this poem Frost is trying to tell us to be ourselves, and to be different from everyone else. Also I believe he is telling us to not follow the crowd and do what everyone else does.
Another piece of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” that I found to really have a deep meaning in life is when he says “I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” (19-20). When I read these two lines in this poem it really stands out to me that he is telling us that by making your own path throughout life you are, for lack of a better word, more successful. Also these lines allow me to believe that by going your own way through life and not following the crowd, you are a better person and gain a better life out of it.
Throughout the analysis of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” I have noticed many areas were the words he uses have a much deeper meaning than what there literal meaning is. Although many people will have their own ideas about what Robert Frost is trying to convey in this poem, I am convinced that Frost is really trying to tell people to find their own path in life and on that note I am listening to him by analyzing his poem my way.
