Poetry of beaches and ancient landscapes.

On ancient path for aeons laid
The salty path of shell and stone
In memory’s sight upon thee played
Remembered I now here alone
The air that brings a freshness cool
Mind expand in spray and mist
Exploring microcosmic pool
By the breeze my faced was kissed
The stones beneath, the gull above
With dunes on left and ocean right
Together joined like hand in glove
Reality in single sight
You welcome me thus, my ancient friend
Allow me passage through my dreams
I know each shell, each rock, each bend
I see the parting of the seams
The world within, the world without
Blending so like coloured ink
You let me see and have no doubt
The mind I have and way I think
Real or false it matters not
The passing clouds of vision sought
Undoing of perceptions knot
Is what you teach, have always taught
I walk not on you, you lift me up
With sight and sound and freshness given
For flowing waters I am your cup
And to my heart your peace is given
And so returns, objective world
As home I head with mind anew
Upon the beach my thoughts unfurled
And with gladdened heart, I think of you.
