Bless the Beasts and the Children.

Mary caught two little squirrels
a gorgeous chestnut brown.
But when she tried to pet those babies,
they bit her, she contracted rabies.

Sally was a shepherdess,
she led them through the field.
She went along a stray ones tracks.
Alas poor girl, she’s caught anthrax
Peter had a turtle green,
he kept it in his room.
Although he was a clever fella,
that turtle gave him salmonella.

Mike fed pigeons in the park.
A generous heart had he.
And though this act is very nice,
those “rats with wings” can carry lice.

Heed the story of Chen Lao
who bought a lovely dairy cow.
Trouble floats among the breeze,
along with milk, mad cow disease.

The moral of these stories born
from inspiration from above.
Your best bet is call the vet.
Animals give more than love.
