What an animal seeks as its birth right…

Give us what we need.

Give us the right to breed.

Give us the right to roam

Give us the place we own.

Give us the right to chirp

Don’t use us to help you burp.

Give us our trees to rest

For our little birds to rest.

Give us freedom from the bars.

Save us from the foul cigars.

Save us from the racing cars.

And shield us from whip’s scars.

Give us your love and care.

Not necessarily clothes to wear.

Don’t groom our fur or brow

And put us in a fashion show.

You’ve destroyed our home for ages,

Now you lock us up in cages.

You regulate our food habits,

Killing us is some people’s habit!

Some live with you as a pet,

That’s good – even the visits to a vet.

There’s a lovely family right beside

But there are others set far aside!

Some of us- the racing pets,

Get scarred on losing silly bets.

Free as strays, though on our own,

We are always the target of painful stones.

My fellow being, o my dear!

At least for once in a year,

Refrain from all possible flaws,

That could cause us any sort of loss.

My friends please bear in mind,

That, in all of us, you can find,

A heart with feelings similar to yours.

And above all, a soul, that’s a brother to yours!
