Another Rainy Summer-a poem.
Another Rainy Summer
Summer stays not in this vale,
As many a man will tell the tale.
Of sunless days, and mist that chills,
The bones of strangers on these hills.
For those that depend upon the seed,
To grow, and satisfy the need,
Of hungry souls, will find such strife,
And desperate times within their life.
The storms here dampen the merriest heart,
They flood our earth and then depart,
To neighbouring grounds, not far away,
Where they linger on each summer day.
This year please give us a warmer time,
For then we toil with hearts sublime,
And tend our crops, so they grow strong,
Alas we will prosper all day long.
