As most people are aware of nowadays anyone can be addicted to anything. Most people spend their time denying that they have addictions when in reality almost everyone has at least a small one. So here is a poem that almost anyone can relate to. Enjoy.
Any addict knows
that horrible feeling
when self-control…
doesn’t exist
that need, overwhelming
takes control of your mental being
that rush…
metal meeting flesh
that fix
always telling yourself…
just this once, to get you through
just enough to not be too much
dripping down slowly
each bead… each sweet sigh of relief
…until you need it again
the pain comes back
the shallow relief doesn’t last
but any addict knows
that horrible feeling
when you lose self-control
