The end is coming…

                                                    Image via Wikipedia

  First the air turned putrid

       And the mist crept in

The portals opened

And down came the sludge

Drip by drip

And drop by drop

               Down it fell

Every inch from hell

Lucifer awoke

And to the dead, he spoke

I have come to claim

What’s rightfully mine

         And exact my revenge

On the whole of mankind

One by one

And two by two

They will all fall down

       Into dust, on the ground

Then the screaming began

          From beginning to end

In the darkness of night

     The dead arose

They moved in sequence

All in rows

        One by one

And two by two

            Off they trudged

In silent rows

          Devouring souls

Left and right

    First the children

Then the women

    And next in line

The men, they dined

        In the chill of dusk

The earth lay silent

      From North to South

   And East to West

  • Tanya Wallace on Oct 24, 2009

Very creative poem with some excellent imagery in your wording.Lucifer means all that is light by the creator, so I can certainly see the irony in this poem! Terrific write Debra, a very enjoyable read!

  • Karen Gross on Oct 24, 2009

Would be just a well written, creative Haloween story except that this one is true.

  • lindalulu on Oct 24, 2009

  • Barneslow on Oct 24, 2009

  • BullwinkleMuse on Oct 25, 2009

Though I realize it’s presumptuous and perhaps arrogant, I somehow feel a bit responsible for this piece. ;^D
    Well done, Deb.

What a great poem for Halloween!

  • Brian Daniel Stankich on Oct 29, 2009

Halloween poem? I certainly pray that none of Deb’s imagery befalls us, but am certain that some of it will. Deb’s insight goes behind the candy laced day of evil. Maybe it will scare some of us for real. God have mercy.

  • Ruby Hawk on Oct 29, 2009

    Sounds grim, well done.

  • T.Rex McGoogle on Nov 1, 2009

That was a helluva poem, Debra. You are very full of imagination. I enjoyed your writing. Informative enough that I
may follow the ten commandments slightly closer so I can avoid
    such a terrible reality.

  • Ruby Hawk on Nov 4, 2009

Wow you drew that one up from the depth.

  • Wylrhyss Terrado on Nov 11, 2009

Maybe a little bit scary, but my Savior is way too powerful than Lucifer…
