Something I wrote a while ago for an english assignment… Didn’t find it again untill just recently. The assignment was based on the storyline from Merchant of Venice, by Shakespear. When the three chests that determine Portia’s husband, may look wonderful and polished on the outside, do not show what is contained on the inside.

To be smart, and use your eyes,

can elude the element of disguise.

What seems the best, you may think,

can change in an instant, breath or blink.

If one beholds the look of the object,

and be sure it is completely correct,

they soon shall stumble and find a flaw,

and for that, from courage, become withdrawn.

For when they see that it’s untrue,

as soon as they understood and knew,

they have been tricked, confused, fooled,

and are now by misery, over-ruled.

For what is inside can be worth less,

than what lay outside thought to bless,

a promise of riches and gold,

was not what was inside to behold!

So think thoroughly and be wise,

Therefore you can claim your prize.
