Chloe swallowed an apple seed

While eating a delicious red apple

And she was distraught

“How could this happen 

To me?” she told her 

Mom as she wept

Her Mom was perplexed,

“It’s okay,” she assured her.

“You’ll pass it.”

“No,” Chloe was adamant,

“It’s in my tummy.”

“That’s where food goes when

You eat it,” her Mom said,

“I know that.

But that’s not the problem,

I’ll be pregnant, like when you

Had Megan.”

“Further, I noticed that

Dad’s belly has begun to swell

And he’s always eating apples”

“No,” her Mom said, “that has

Nothing to do with eating apples.”

“It must! It must!” she cried.

“My friends at school told

Me about that.”

Her mother puts her arms 

Around Chloe 

And hugged her

Wiped her eyes saying,

“Let me assure you,

You’re much too young 

To become pregnant”

“What about Dad?” she asked

“Males don’t become pregnant.

Only females do”

“Well, I’m a female”

“Yes, you’re,

But as I said, you’re 

Much too young”

- – -

“Okay,” Chloe said,

“When it happens don’t

Be surprised, for you’ll

Be a grandmother.”

Her mother smiled

And said, “I’ll be sure to let

You know about the birds

And the bees first”

On that note

Chloe became really confused

And asked, “what do the

Birds and the bees have

To do with swallowing

An apple seed?”

- – -

Her mother said,

“You’ll be surprised

When you find out

One day very soon.”
