A poem about a very special teddy bear.

A birthday bear to a young sophomore girl.

In the summer heat, her hair starts to curl.

Deep fried Oreos and dangerous rides.

Onto the ship the little crew slides.

The boy takes the bear and throws her in the air.

She falls back to them, with inches to spare.

Out to the ferris wheel, they wait in line.

A picture and kiss; this bear is mine.

She takes the bear home and sets it in her room.

If only the bear had her own lovely groom.

That Christmas she takes home a scheming Houdini.

His escapes are incredible for someone so teeny!

Houdini and April; what a beautiful pair.

They sit on her couch; they’re quite happy there.

When she’s feeling lonely she holds her dear toy.

She remembers how April was safe with that boy.

One day when it’s time to say goodbye to home,

She’ll bring that bear with her to wander and roam.

She can’t let it go; she loves it too much.

April is special; holds memories and such.
