The river’s blue.

Archways and midnight
The river’s blue
Trees sway and line the way
Stars twinkle their brightest hue
A melody plays on the quiet streets
Followed by applause and a celebratory nickel or two
Four tiny feet tread carefully along the concrete
Cautiously attentive to the cracks and flaws
In the path
Side stepping them, while they giggle and laugh again
And the moon above smiles in approval and satisfaction
It’s reflection, brilliant and calm in the waters below
Fingers and hands touch and converse
Send shivers along soft new skin
Eager and anticipatory thinking of
New beginnings, of together,
Pleasant what ifs and summertime whens?
