As a parent, I have heard this many times over the years from my children. I’m sure I am not alone in this, as all children are a bit impatient when they travel. This is especially true when the trip is a special treat for them (e.g. an amusement park).
I am a little short on patience myself when it comes to getting where I want to be in life. It seems as though I have been on the road an awfully long time and perhaps I’ve been going in circles.
Cover of Are We There Yet ?
Waiting to arrive at my destiny
The journey has been so long
Many delays and postponements
A lot of life’s turns have been wrong
Strayed many times from my true course
And some trips, by others, derailed
It was hard starting over and over again
Each and every time that I failed
Bumpy detours that took me miles away
From where I intended to be
Getting back to the smoothly paved road
Seemed nearly an impossibility
And there were so many pit stops
Some of them lasting for years
I screamed out “Let’s get moving!”
My pleas falling upon deaf ears
I believe I am now on the right path
And the road ahead seems fairly clear
Just waiting for someone to turn to me
And finally say, “We’re here!”
