I wrote this back in 1983. Back then I mostly wrote to impress girls. Today I found this in a forgotten box. It has been hidden away too long.

Arkansas Moonlight
13 Oct 1983

Beautiful is the flight of an eagle in the sky
Beautiful does the ship sail upon a calm sea
Seeing these helps me remember
Those beautiful nights
In the Arkansas moonlight
Wonderful is the way
With a man and a maid
Listen quietly to his serenade

Eagle in the sky
Flying so high
Ship in the sea
Beautiful and free
In the Arkansas moonlight
Everything so right
I want to mystify
And satisfy
One that so shy
I feel no agony
In our company
Flowing with harmony
My lovely maid
Hairs in braid
My love shall never fade
It’s midnight
And I feel so bright
In the Arkansas moonlight
      In the Arkansas moonlight

Beautiful is the flight of an eagle in the sky
Beautiful does the ship sail upon a calm sea
Seeing these helps me remember
Those beautiful nights
In the Arkansas moonlight
Wonderful was that time
When I was my man’s maid
And remembering his serenade

Eagle in the sky
Questioning why
Ship in the sea
Royal legacy
In the Arkansas moonlight
Everything so right
You, I now glorify
So never cry
Never to die
This growing energy
Lovely harmony
You are my royalty
My lovely maid
You have made
My love to never fade
Truly bright
As we reunite
In this Arkansas moonlight
      In this Arkansas moonlight

Very lovely poem Milton. I would enjoy a walk in the Arkansas moonlight. I am sure it is beautiful and yes romantic. Moonlight in Vermont is also wonderful. Well done on this poem.
