A prayer for those who miss home.

Deliver me, the strength to understand,
Give me, the courage to accept helping hands.
As I am called to duty,
I pray to use the phone, longing to call my wife monthly.
Awaiting my return, duly.
Give me the serenity to strive each day,
For soon I’ll be home and on my way.
Lord, I ask only one thing, when I am away,
Please Hover, over me and bring me home safe.
While I am at war in a strange place,
Lord, Stay close to me, during this lonely stage.
Though I know she’s always close in my heart,
Keeping faith, No distance, keeps us apart.
Love is a Stamp with her name etched in my
heart.

I liked this poem. I write a lot about the same thing. My husband has been deployed 3 times and I am an Army vet too. Please look to my poems as well and let me know what you think of Crusade, The Army Wife, and Off the Beaten Path.
    Pleasure reading!

That was a great poem, very emotional and heart warming all at once, especially in our political and global climate regarding war and loss and yearning, really beautiful, great meter and great rythms within this prose, great work.
