Army should maintain its supremacy to retain the coveted Qaid-e-Azam trophy set in the ongoing 31st National Games here on Thursday.This was stated by Director Army Sports Directorate Brig Aqtedar Naseer Ahamd while addressing a press conference here at Games media center. “We have achieved the set target and what we planned our athletes performed accordingly,”he added.

He said the Army had put athletes in 21 Men and seven female competitions whereas the Army exhibited its dominance. The Army, he said, so far grabbed 85 gold medal, 67 silver medals and 26 bronze medals. In the overall athletics Army athletes got 13 gold medals, 10 silver and 8 bronze medals, in bodybuilding got two silver, in boxing seven bronze so far besides seven of the Army pugilists were in the finals.
He said that the Army won so far three gold medals in Judo with one silver and three bronze medal while in the Men and Women Army won three golds, seven silver and nine bronze besides winning two silver and one bronze in Men and Women Table Tennis.
There was three bronze medals in weightlifting, in wrestling we got two gold and three silver and won 12 gold shooting, nine silver and four bronze.
In Men and Women swimming, he said, the Army swimmers showed excellent result by winning 31 gold medal and 24 silver with two bronze medal. “We got the honor that one of Army Swimming Kiran Khan got 15 gold medals individually,” he added.
In Men and Women Taekwondo Army won 13 gold, and one bronze medal while in Wushu Army took 4 gold, one silver and three bronze medals, in rowing two golds and eight silver while in the Netball Men and Women Pakistan Army won gold medal.
He said that Army has so far retained its first position by winning 85 gold, 67 silver and 26 bronze medals while Wapda so far at second position behind Army by grabbing 68 gold medal, 39 silver and 48 bronze medals.
He said that the Army also led the way for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy having 689 points. He also appreciated the organizing committee for organizing the 31st National Games in befitting . Brig Iqtedar Naseer said that they are enrolling more players from FATA at our youth program so that to give maximum participation to be ensured in this connection.
He said steps have been taken to announce honorary ranks for the players who uphold national flag in different sporting event.
