Thoughts and feelings whilst living and loving someone with Asperger’s syndrome.

I search inside his mind

Its so, so black and dark

But my love for him is strong not blind

For, there far inside is a bright spark

On my face is a smile

Have Laughter in my eyes

The messages may take awhile

But they get through, with no wherefores or whys

So special are one and all

That our love can help each other climb, helping to catch each other before we fall

Any mountain no matter how high until the end of time

Thoughts about my Son

I loved this poem because there is always hope for those children/people who suffer from Asperger’s. Our love for them is no less than if they were born without any problems. I can relate to this poem because I have a grandson who has Autism Spectrum Disorder. He is a joy, but sometimes it is hard to reach his world. All the best to you lillyrose. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

    Thank you Teddybear55.

So many people are affected by Autism and its great to know we are breeding such wonderful, inteligent children for the next generation and who say’s their world isn’t right and ours is wrong… something we all should consider from time to time.

Thanks again I hope you continue the joy you have with your Grandson xxxx

Beautiful, touching poem about your son. Is it true that autism is on the rise, or is it just being diagnosed more now?

  • lillyrose on Sep 4, 2009

I think you are right to say its just being diagnosed more easily now.

Think of all the poor people that had to suffer with people thinking they were, weird, simple, mental, odd and lots of other names that were placed on to them.

Thank you Lill.. I am so glad I read this. I love such people more, not less. They are just a little different from us “normal” people. But I love the fact that they have a precious innocence. It can be tough at times, but they are God’s gift. Thanks again.

A wonderful piece. Aspergers syndrome is much more common than people think. I know it can be so hard to look after these children and do what is best for them, but many lead fulfilling lives. I have taught quite a few autistic children and felt privileged to do so.

Autistic kids are extremely intelligent-it hurts a parent never-the less, to see such intelligence locked away from the real world. We still hope Lisa Leverton will receive the professional care he needs to make his mark on this world.
