This was the very first poem I wrote. It was based on something I heard about the world ending.
I will only be forty-five years old,
The sun scintillating upon us,
But for how long?
It’s Thursday, October 26th,
Tea time, 5:26, 5:27.
We wait for our sensational,
But exploited world to disappear.
No trace for the next life form!
Maybe we still have time,
Three minutes is long enough to launch a rocket.
We’ll live on the moon!
What will happen to our life form?
Our family and friends?
Will there be another life form?
I ask myself.
Were the dinosaurs extinct by this exact same way?
Will we survive?
These are the questions I ask myself, but cannot answer.
ALERT!
Asteroids on its way to destruction somewhere,
Where nobody knows at this time,
But when the time is right,
WE WILL!
