A poem about the strength of one person and how much can they bare.
Atlas – Susan Varo 8-20-2000
Can I compare
the lives of us two
how did it begin
how did it end with you
What’s the weight of heaven
is it ever too much
has it been measures in tons
or pounds as such
So much despair
you have in a clutch
did you lift the burdens
of others too much
Did you ask father time
if you’d ever get older
and still carry the weight
of the world on your shoulders
I feel like you sometimes
in my daily despair
the weight of the world
just on me to bear
