I was challenged to write about atmosphere.

Atmosphere is a slightly visible bubble consisting of
trillions of air particles mixed with dust. It protects us
from infrared and UV rays, acting like a filter, letting
some sun in while reflecting much out.

Atmosphere is a substance that caused man to first breath.
Not only does it protect, but it brings forth life. Man’s inquisitive
mind began by pondering the jewels of the sky.
In prehistoric days, man must have believed the stars
were suspended right there in the atmosphere.
Many probably tried to climb a mountain side
wanting to capture that heavenly substance bringing it
back down to earth.

Men today think much the same way; however,
they fail to understand the Master’s plan.
The same air we breathe reaches the very top of the
atmosphere and returns to us as rain.

Knowing this, I am a little wiser than the cave man and the scientist.
I don’t have to climb the highest mountain to bring heavenly
things to earth. All I need to do is stand close to you
breathing the same atmosphere that surrounds you.

The sentiment in the last stanza was excellent, but the first parts seemed too much like science lessons.

The so called “science lessons” at the beginning is a part of what makes this piece beautiful. The sentiment greatly contrasts the science and further gives credence to that which gives life and have men to ponder can also connect hearts.
