A poem about being seperated from the one you love.

I am lost and alone without you.

The fields that I walk echo silently with your voice.

I hear you in my mind, I see you in my dreams.

A long time and many memories separate us.

Each new sunrise takes you further away, yet I dream of you all the more.

My insides want and my heavy breath need you.

If only you could appear.

I see you in mirages,

When I am feeling low and alone.

You are in the sunrise,

As the dawn breaks you are in the birds chorus,

As the sun breaks through you are in the warm rays of sunshine.

The day grows mature and I feel you in the midday sun.

When the clouds wash over, I feel you in the soothing coolness.

As I walk further, growing older and tired, you are in the jaded sunshine.

You appear in the growing cold edge of the evening,

In the red sky when it is almost dusk.

I hear you in the bird song as twilight approaches.

The sun sets and I feel you holding my hand.

I walk further with you into the sunset.

I fear our time is short.

It matters not, for as the moon rises slowly, yet ominously over the high mountain,

I feel you again.

I walk that little bit further and my tired eyes are deceived into seeing your shadow.

I hear your voice in the wolf’s lowly howl.

I see your face in the full and bright moon.

I lay myself down to finally rest.

I cross my arms over my chest to pray that sleep finds me soon,

I cannot rest easily though.

Somehow I hear your voice saying my name and it awakens my senses.

Wide awake, though exhausted to the core,

I close my eyes and picture your smiling face.

You are beautiful.

I pray I take the memory of you to my grave,

For I fear I will never see you again.

I begin to rest in the darkened night’s glow,

My eyes tightly closed.

You visit me in my dreams.

I picture us together, for one last time,

My breathing becomes heavy as I imagine us together.

I touch your hand and you reciprocate.

I take you for a long walk into the beautiful sunlit countryside,

The same path I have walked so many times, so alone.

I hold your hand tightly, to keep you steady.

We stop, we talk for a moment, then we look upon each other.

I see in your eyes what you would see in mine,

If only you were here to feel it.

Trapped in a moment that I will feel for eternity.

I lean forward to kiss you and the moon disappears,

Hiding from our love like a black creature of the night,

Devoid of humanity.

The silver night becomes black, and you let go.

As you turn and walk away,

The tears begin to fill my eyes.

They sting as they sweep slowly down my face.

You are walking away and I cant see where you are going.

You are lost in the night.

I awake with a start and realise it was all a dream,

The sun is about to rise.

As I hear the dawns first chorus of birds,

I see you in the sunrise, and I get up to walk alone.
