Silently in the night vampires wait and watch their next victims. Everything in this world has the right to survive, but why can’t we all accept it?

waiting silently
watching, listening
from atop the hill in the countryside
with garlic around my neck
the village is a great distance away
as I quietly wait in the shadows
victims screams reach my ears
making me feel helpless
vampires fly about
hovering over unsuspecting victims
to pounce, to attack
at the right moment
to dry people up of their blood
these batty creatures need to feed
before the light of dawn
reaches the blackest of skies
but will these vampires
get any degree of satisfaction
before they have to flee
from the light of day
