Auction: Elvis Presley Painting
Sotheby’s auction house said the painting “Double Elvis” symbolizes the artist’s obsession for fame, became a star and role model community. The painting is one of 22 works by Warhol that is dedicated to the singer. Paintings will be exhibited in London, Los Angeles and Hong Kong before the sale.

Eight Elvis painting was sold for U.S. $ 100 million in private sales in 2008. The highest price for a painting by Warhol Green Car Crash is, that sold for U.S. $ 71.7 million in 2007.

In a work of art that Presley wore a cowboy outfit with a pistol, next to the singer’s shadow visible in the same pose. The painting was first exhibited, along with other works, in Los Angeles ferrous Gallery in 1963.

Sotheby’s said the painting has a movement, which gives cinema quality in painting. Sotheby’s auction house said serial paintings of Elvis, was a turning point in Warhol’s work, “where he makes a transition from film to the audience the author”. More than 22 serial paintings of Elvis, nine of them into museum collections.
