The beauty of the fall, as autumn leaves.

Image via Wikipedia

You graced the stage
Brought colour
To the play
Costume changes
That matched the season

You spoke with warmth
Under hot lights
In cool shadows
Working on
Into the night

You fell like the curtain
When your part
Was played
To be swept away
By careful hands

Difficult to pick a favourite season as all have such different appeal. But if I had to choose, Autumn would be it. The colours in Autumn are just so wonderful, and it’s the one season that you really, really don’t want to end, as it’s followed by winter, which although beautiful in itself, can also be cold and harsh.

Loved this poem, simple yet really pleasantly warm.

    Aldrin :)

Great poem , I loved the duality of the actor and the leaves, both having thier moment in the spotlight. Thank you.

I liked the intent and the word usage and flow. But, I would think it could be polished with punctuation and possibly length.

  • Bowler on Feb 28, 2009

Woah, the metaphor you use works really well here. The imagery is easily visualized as well. Nice work!

    Hi,

Your words have the depth to paint the most gracious picture on the reader’s mind,Autumn is my favorite season too,its mysterious to realize how a single season can play on the minds of the poets with myriad of colors.A lesson perhaps that directs us to its bigger cause.

    my deepest respect and gratitude,revivor
