Written late one autumn afternoon, while sitting and enjoying the colors of the trees.
Autumn Splendor
My eyes stare in awe, as slowly I walk
Amid fallen branches, where twigs, they all talk
Most crunches unheard, others loud as can be
Yet leaves of every color, speak softly to me
Meandering along in this wondrous place
Settled here so its wonders, we all can embrace
With yellows and oranges and reds and much more
This forest’s carpet, magically spread across its floor
Whistling through branches reaching, a tune oft heard
From a song who’s words, so long ago blurred
Remind us that, around us, not just sights abound
But there is wonder and awe in most every sound
