Just last week I was on a trip in the mountains to enjoy the changing of the autums leaves and to enjoy the crisp, cool days of fall. My biggest surprise was the snow storm that blew in unexpectedly and left us with about eight inches of white fluff on the beautiful autumn leaves. It hasn’t snowed here in October since 1956. What a wonderful surprise. I loved it! Hope you enjoy this poem about my "autumn snow".

AUTUMNS SNOW

The early snow came as quite a surprise
As leaves hadn’t fallen completely
Autumns colors still painted the early sunrise
Then snowflakes came drifting discretely

The snow softly covered the pine tree boughs
God’s white confection finely sifted
A sense of adventure quite quickly aroused
Through streams of sunlight, storm clouds lifted

Footprints in the snow left winding trails
As we played and explored pristine hills
You could see God’s eye for fine details
And his infinite giftings and skills

Winters evidence came quite early this year
Natures canvas caught by surprise
The trees, the squirrels and the soft brown deer
Most surely thought it unwise

But God’s hand on things is always on time
Winter came, ordained when it should
A white snowy blanket made Autumn sublime
To prove just once more, “God is good”!
