The poor see things differently than those who made decisions for them do.

We have endured and suffered

things beyond our control

we have watched as others passed us by

we have cried until our tears have dried up

hope and happiness has been denied us

and we still keep on breathing

the crumbs we live on are laced with hate

by those who toss them to us with hidden resentment

how can we be grateful when society

views us as useless trash?

we are the children of the same God

and we are loved for who we are

we have gifts and talents each and everyone

poverty is man made by those who see themselves

as deserving

we are all deserving

however we are judged and punished for not

fitting the social mold of acceptability

government grants provide decent wages

for those who divide the crumbs for the poor

homeless shelters receive $80.00 a day

to allow a single person a few hours of sleep

each night

for the $2,400.00 a month , that homeless person

could live in a luxury home

a woman faces 5 years in prison

for stealing 3 rolls of toilet paper

taxpayers will pay out a quarter of a million

dollars to keep her in prison

this one destitute woman is sacrificed so

judges, prosecutors, and prison officials

can “earn” living wages at her expense

we know the games that the system plays

blaming the victim to gain their way

to wealth and control

we are not the fools

we see through the insanity of

their justice

in a system that has no compassion

we are the sacrificing lambs of the rich

we are led to the slaughter with no voice

our only hope is the final judgment

when we will have our day in the

court of eternity!
