An old poem exploring science, religion, love and the ways we keep each alive in one another.

I’ve a scientific understanding

Of the world you left behind

A world destroyed by intrigue

And failure to consign

No way to know your heart aches

For you alone could feel

No way for me to counsel you

In lies you could conceal

I’m missing what we used to have

But having much more now

Within a self I’ve left behind

Who followed you to vow

I realize now I can’t be with you

You’re a vessel out at sea

While I may be the lightning shower

You’ve no eyes with which to see

And so I must continue here

Along a path anew

Away from all you made of me

Away from all of you

And I must flow to darkened lands

My eyes the sea so blue

Away from all you made of us

Away from all of you

Never shall you see me more

Though I may e’er see you

Beneath you as always before

Away from all of you.

Gorgeous poem, and romance wrapped in sadness. Sounds like my lovelife.
