Stonewall Jackson wrote a song similiar to this in 1964 amoung other songs in his carreer. This is my take on an old classic that some may or may not remember.

B.J was a local disc jockey on the radio waves,
his real name was Billy jack but was called B.J.
He spun the hits from midnight to eight thirty,
this is when Wolf man Jack took over for him.
****
B.J would spin all the popular hits of the day,
taking dedications and playing your requests.
B.J would read your dedications over the air,
playing the perfect song to match the dedication.
****
When he wasn’t doing that he was a mechanic,
working with his father to help make ends meet.
There wasn’t nothing about a motor he didn’t know,
but his first love was always being a disc jockey.
****
His father would listen to his son as he worked,
smiled as Chuck Berry belted out Lucille again.
He was his sons biggest fan besides his mother,
but never wanted his son to know how he felt.
****
He wished that B.J would slow down somewhere,
his crazy life would be the death of him someday.
But as his father drifted off to sleep one evening,
he didn’t realize that his words would come true.
****
B.J was late from helping his dad rebuild a motor,
he had exactly thirty minutes to reach the station.
B.J did ninety miles an hour to make it to the station,
he never once believed he had to be late for work.
****
B.J wrapped his old car around a telephone pole,
he hit a patch of ice and skidded out of control.
He was dead before the care came to a stand still,
B.J is now forever a part of radio wave history.
*****
So ends the legend of a famous and much loved D.J,
B.J could have been bigger then any DJ ever known.
B.J spun the records as only he knew hot to spin them,
he is still known as one of the best D.J’s in history.
