An introspective creation based on current world events.
I walk upon this lonely place
The sands of time blow in my face
Ancient, forgotten ghosts lay awake
In the day specters shimmer and bake
My fingers sift the desert sands
My body tastes the deserted sins
Love and passion, dried and blown
A mummies’ heart, long since gone
A river of dust where once poured tears
Heavens’ blessing, gone for years
Here Ishtar landed
To teach love’s game
When ancients knelt
To sing of Marduk’s fame
All is lost and all is gone
Will my ears ever hear heaven’s song?
Innocence has passed, and I’m alone
Spirit, resurrect my soul
Let me find my way home
The blood of my brothers
Stains my hands
The bodies of my sisters
Lay deep beneath the sands
Will all this pain
Come to an end?
Or will this circle
Turn once again
I surrender to God
And to the Holy Ghost
Where is salvation
When I need it the most?
With God’s toys I have played
See the endless desert
About me I have laid
Atomized souls and ashes black
Kiss the deathly grin on fleshless lips
Leering at the promise of destiny, aborted
One kiss, now there’s no turning back
So what is another footstep
On this timeless track?
What is an era or lifetime missed
When one tastes the lips of eternity
In this Babylon kiss
