Writing piece from my nature studies journal.
As I search for the place that I would need to be in order to assess the beauty and magnificence of which I am surrounded by, (nature is its name – calm and fascinating it is all.) I spot a lovely rock all in its lonesome, half buried in a blanket of white.
“That rock is made for sitting.” I mumble to myself. “The way it drops a little bit and is just long enough to prop my bum on it, made me want to experiment. I take a seat and it is ever so comfortable! I adhere to being curious as to how the rock got that way. Did the wind blow sand crystals into this rock to make it deteriorate into this perfect situation of sitting? Could it really be nature at its best? Or did another human-being decide to widdle and chip away pieces of the rock, so it could have this exact purpose and satisfaction to anyone who came along it?
While I sit ever to contentedly on this plateau of a seat, I wonder if the birds in the trees that sing and tweet happily, secretly know the answers to my delirious questions I continue to mumble aloud? Are they happy in their home made of leaves, hay, grass, and other assortments of nature? I suppose they get used to it.
I appear to observe with more detail than I usually would to how the array of trees that I am surrounded by, distinctively have their own movements in the wind. It seems as if the trees dance to the tunes of the birds’ songs. The birch trees have a more elastic freeness than the others, almost as if they are the young children among the grandparents. I can relate to the freedom the birches must feel, as I am also full of energy. The pine trees are quite stiff at the bottom, but at their peaks, they sway back and forth.
In order to get to my trail in the back of my woods, I have to walk in between these spruce trees. Let me specify that these spruce trees are set up in lines and they are close to each other, so when you attempt to walk by them they prick you. If they were not so cruel to me, then maybe I would not mind expressing my thoughts on them. I will admit, they make gorgeous Christmas trees.
The sun is out. I want it to blanket me with its warmth, but despite its potency, it is still too early to break through this cold winter barrier. The children of the woods would appreciate the balmy weather. The frenzied squirrel that has been hiding from the cold in its borough will be able to gather food and enjoy the sun’s presence. The king of the woods, the bear will know to wake up soon from its long hibernation and continue its commotion in the forest.
The ways of nature are always so intense and seem to have their own way of happening. It is always a pleasure being outside and watching everything go on around me that I never was aware of. What I appreciate is all the beautiful sounds and sights around me. I am glad I am able to cherish such things with more detail as I have obtained knowledge to be able to do so.
