Getting down to the Bones of the matter.

They look at me, and what do they see?
A jaded skeleton where a man used to be
someone afraid to even hope
the kind of man found at the end of a rope
But I won’t let it end that way
I fight through every draining day
I fall down, get up again
face the lion in his den
Disappointment follows me
and the past won’t let me be
I’m haunted by a crying voice
bearing the burden of every wrong choice
I know I can’t please everyone
I’m still a friend, brother, and son
no matter the mistakes I’ve made
the love they show -it doesn’t fade
So I hold my head up high
and shout this challenge to the sky:
“Throw at me your very worst
I’ll find a blessing in every curse”
