With all of life’s competing elements, I will settle for basic needs to build my mind, body, and spirit.

Let others be millionaires

And billionaires

Let them have their estates

Yachts, Ferrari

And airplanes

I’ll settle for love

That universal force

That unites us all

- – -

I’ll want to breathe

Fresh unpolluted air

That will lift my spirits

Throughout my waking life

- – -

Give me plenty

Of fresh clean water

That will cleanse my thirst

- – -

Grant me healthy food

That titillates

My taste buds

Making for a healthy body

- – -

I’ll dip into the classics

For mental simulation

Learning from past

And present sages

- – -

Provide me

With a modest home

That will be my shelter

From the storms of life

- – -

I’ll get around well

Most times I’ll walk, run

Or ride a bicycle

- – -

Such a life

I’ll enjoy

By not having

Basic needs are those we are least bothered about and it sounds creepy how much this world’s definition of basic needs falls in the materialism!
