Poem giving my opinion on the British 2010 general election and the hung parliament situation.

Image via Wikipedia

Stubby pencil in hand: X for SNP,

Same party support since 1987.

Satisfaction – SNP MP returned, Dundee East;

Frustration – only 6 SNP MPs elected.

Party leaders flex their muscles in

A well-hung parliament.

Cameron-Clegg coalition talks -

Joint adrenalin-fuelled majority over

Labour, stymied by ideology.

Afghanistan-wounded Brown

Preparing to resign by autumn.

Labour kicked hard in the ballots -

Except in loyal Scotland -

Tories’ bid for power hamstrung by

Lone MP north of border; Salmond in

His element, exploiting Holyrood-

Westminster rifts and legitimacy of

Tory rule in Scotland, via Westminster.

As Scot Nats rule the Holyrood roost,

A confused general public switches off.
