“Be careful what you wish”
My Love had said to me.
“For if your wish were granted,
Then, where would you be?”
 
“I’d be with you and want that”
Is what I’d said to her.
And many years since have passed
But that I still want — and that for sure!
 
I think she had it in her mind
When God blesses there is only peace.
No troubles exist of any kind
And all struggle and conflict will cease.
 
The Bible seems to promise peace
When people please the Lord
As the woman of Proverbs 31
And Jeremiah’s 29:11 word.
 
Yet I also read the promise in families
That Jesus brings a sword.
The Christian faces persecution
For obeying the godly word.
 
Jesus himself is the prime example
That one’s enemies may never cease.
That troubles and strife may continue
Even as with God there is peace.
 
So what do I pray and for what do I wish?
I wish to know love through her.
But I will accept life whatever it holds
And just trust Him — Trust in God for sure!
