So here it is again–
Almost payday, so the phone begins to ring…
The morgage company, would like some cash today
And the student loan is requesting that I pay.
The fleas do leap, the ticks do bite,
Cost of groceries getting out of sight
Is there anyway to make this balance
Come out all right?
Yeah, it’s those monthly bill-pay blues.
It doesn’t seem like it should come so soon,
Was just three weeks ago this stuff was in tune–
But it seems the calendar loosed a tuning peg
I hardly know whether to work or beg.
But there are people who need what I do–
Anyway, I hope that’s true
The freezer is full enough all right;
Some Frontline will make the fleas say good night
Singing those monthly bill-pay blues.
Well a mortgage beats out paying rent
We had some rain that was heaven sent
The patch on the roof held under the sky
And the floor beneath is nice and dry.
I think I can beat
Those monthly bill-paying blues.
