POEM ABOUT A HISTORIC TOWN IN LAGOS NIGERIA.

“BADAGRY, is a coastal town is the outskirt of LAGOS STATE IN NIGERIA, boarder town between Nigeria and Benin  republic., this town was a SLAVE TRADE  DEPARTURE POINT, Lots of our ancestor crossed to the new world from BADAGRY”

COME VISIT HER SHE IS A TOURIST DELIGHT

BEAUTY FROM BADAGRY

At its genesis, pain it felt

Obviously a cruel relationship

Man fostered on his host

Wicked as it may have seemed

In between it lie gains?

A relationship knitted to pain

A pain never abating, even in rain.

In the scorching sunlight,

The yoke bites like cane

Cries and despair only they flaunt,

Very deeply from their pained soul

All on a journey of never return

Yet the future packaged gains in return

The black sacrifice, to heal the world

A tortuous path indeed, only Africa dared

Being the black messiah, a sacrifice yet for mankind

Even under pains fang, their shoulder carried on.

The burden of spreading the black civilization

Even,  as slaves, yet! Divine was the mission

A mission to balance creations equation.

Yes! It became the black man’s burden

This became the fate of Africa

Badagry! You housed the great exodus

A beautiful terrestrial, showcasing nature bounty

Rich in great richness, you are still our pride

Its serene innocence, denies it a role at all

Her great harbor witnessed it all happen

Her coconut plantation only haplessly

Waved its guardians only a painful good bye

Her aquatic citizens whispered bon voyage

Badagry, unknown to her then,

Was fulfilling a renaissance

Evidence abound, clamoring to be recognized

Undeniable, is the chains of pain

A market, many destinies were priced

Yes! All is invisible now with the past

Yet the legend a reoccurring decimal

Even the muscular captors, your bowels buried

As their graves, abound as crystal

All relics of the old but immortal history of the black race,

A people raped by civilization madness to advance vanity

As a tourist beauty,

you have preserved these whole memories.

Badagry!  Badagry!  Badagry!

your passage gave to the world Africa‘s very best

Your same doors, our ancestors labors

Is returning home to build,

a return exodus to motherland

Small a town but,

loaded with unspeakable historic treasure

The world faint, when you cry , reparation!

Your gates, hosted the seed

Making our land the giant of Africa,

Coercing your generosity,

The new world was birthed

Just as more came to light

Badagry! What a world without you.

Beat your tall drums loudest, to all ears

Sound your trumpet, with a blast r

Calling all your own, back home

Hands together on deck

Let s flaunt our roots,

Yes indeed! The black heritage,

A festival of our heavy past,

Echoing from our motherland roots

Yes! It the great beauty from a historic town

Beaming to the world from Lagos Nigeria

The beauty from Badagry.

A special dedication to the black heritage festival.
