What would it feel like just to slip away…?

i was wondering as i was

shivering in the snow

how it would feel

to just let it all go

forget your worries; your sorrows; your lifelong mistakes

slip into the silent otherworld

one word is all it takes

why do we cling so hard?

why not just fall away?

it’s humanity’s first instinct

but why were we made this way?

it makes no sense to me

perhaps someone’s laughing from above

but all i know is this…

we hold on because of love.

You’re already starting to write dark poetry. Don’t fall in too deeply. The last line saved this poem. Good for you.

Dark poetry has its place. As any artist will tell you, there is no light without dark.

But this piece was indeed saved by the last line, I agree. ;-)

    Keep writing!
