Bed bugs are disgusting parasites

That are light brown to reddish brown

In color

Oval in shape

Are confused with lice

And are the size of an apple seed

They live in mattresses, bed springs

Bed boards, and crevices

But near warm-blooded

Hosts like humans, pets and wild animals

And can cause rashes and allergic symptoms

Bed bugs live in all countries

Around the world

They hitch rides

In taxis, trains, buses, boats

And aeroplanes

Within the luggage of travellers

It takes a professional exterminator

To manage a problem of infestation

For these parasites have evolved

Becoming resistant

To pesticides like DDT

And some other forms of treatment

Bedbug’s predators

Are cockroaches, centipedes, spiders

And ants

- – -

A female bed bug 

Can lay around 

200 eggs in her life time

And newly hatched bed bugs

Are called nymphs

That are translucent 

- – -

As the saying goes,

“Don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
