A poem about the a miscommunicated relationship. Giving space to one that you love in the hopes that it will one day again be a healthy partnership.
Before the Tan Fades Away
By
Christopher DeRoche
It feels like your slipping,
And moving away from me,
The air is getting colder,
And my solitude grows,
But I’m tightly gripping
Relax and just let her be,
I long to only hold her,
And everyone knows.
What happened to summer?
Blue skies and full of dreams,
Help me to remember,
All those sun-kissed memories.
Can we fix this?
Are you willing to try?
Can we make it?
Before we say goodbye
It seems you don’t have the time for me
And it always goes your way
I’m trying to be patient
But you keep pushing me away
I’m living off the photographs
And trinkets from our good times
Am I just living in the past?
My future is foggy and I don’t know why.
What happened to summer?
Blue skies and full of dreams,
Help me to remember,
All those sun-kissed memories.
Can we fix this?
Are you willing to try?
Can we make it?
Before we say goodbye
