The poem is about the faces of actors that are covered by makeup that hides all expressions…

They are fictional characters of stage,

Puppets on invisible strings dancing to the directors tunes

Smiling plastic smiles of faked delight and sheding

Glycerine tears of false grief and sorrow

Words spoken with suppossed earnesty

Are merely parroted dialogues spoken with actor’s panache

They are merchants of emotions from tinseltown

What they portray or they seem is a role play

There true expressions are hidden behinds masks

Those of face paint and make up donned on stage

They must smile in grief hiding hurling tears

And must laugh even if moans choke the throat

They must cry even when the heart sings in delight

And dance to songs even when tired to the bone

There expressions are not to be expressed at leisure

But to be reined by strings of discipline and self control

And portray false emotions with style and grace

Creating mirages of falsehoods

This living of a dual existence by stifling natural impulses

Is a feat that deserves accolade…

I have also written couple of metaphors, but this one seems to be the best. Well done.
