Fleeing from night creatures.

Just beyond the edge of the woods

are eyes that are glowing bright red.

I’m frightened and all alone tonight,

wishing I were back home in my bed.

What are those evil and sinister eyes?

Why are they staring straight at me?

I can feel my heart beating like crazy,

as I turn around and start to flee.

While I run along the deserted road,

I can hear footsteps not far behind.

The night creatures are following me,

safe shelter I must very soon find.

i really enjoyed this poem. it’s gripping and held my interest throughout. the red eyes seemed very menacing. beautifully written.
