I wonder what it would be like to lie
Beneath the waves of darkest blue,
Where all that can be seen with the naked eye
Is a desolate and watery view.
Its calmness lending a few moments of escape
From the drudgery of daily lives,
And the shimmering moon with its changing shape
Lighting the water until daytime arrives.

Beneath the dark swell where marine life plays,
In a garden of colourful weed,

A wreck or two from faraway days
To their watery graves do concede.
And vivid arrays of fish speed past,
Their colours a sight to behold.

A seahorse, a dot in an ocean vast
Skims the rocks in the waters so cold.
If I had the chance I would dive down deep
And gaze at the sights in awe.

Watch dolphins as they play and leap
And great sharks with their threatening jaws.

But of such experiences, I can only dream
When I perceive waves of foaming white,
And imagine the antics in the deepest extreme
Of an extraordinary world, hidden from sight.
