A poem in response to Writing Challenge 25 using the words "spasmodic delirium" and "plastic".

Night;

Silver semicircle-

Lending its personal glow

From the inky expanse

Overhead.

Narrow street corner;

A trash can

Meditates.

Metallic skin reflects

That silver smile.

A plastic bag

Peeks

From underneath the

Imperfectly placed cover.

Scattered around,

A few more lie,

Bursting with refuse,

Awaiting their chariot-

The garbage truck.

A slow step-

Nightly stillness scattered.

Unsteady gait;

Piercing voice;

Serenading incoherence.

A drunkard

With unwashed hair;

Tattered clothes;

One blue eye,

Accompanied by his companion-

That spasmodic delirium.

Those imaginative eyes

Step towards

A fallen plastic bag.

A treasure within-

A half eaten pizza slice.

Not refuse to him,

That refused piece.

Gentle arms caress that find

As he walks away with his delirium,

And his prize.

    It is amazing what one will eat when in an alcoholic spasmodic delirium!

    Wow – such a mundane and ignored scene given such beauty and mystery. What a self challenge, and what a way to meet this challenge. Well done and thanks for playing
