Honesty is the best medicine.

I receive a message from you
Telling me that you’ve read my stuffs
And how much you like my material
Plus, you also click on the “I like it” button
But you have time for no comments!

Upon checking into my account
I find the view stood at zero
And the “I like it” button frozen still
Now, I have fallen for this type of emails
Way too many times in the past
Not that I am silly or desperate for views
Just because I trust people in telling the truth
Since there is no need to tell white lies.

I made my rounds reading friends’ work
And your name and comments I found
It’s funny how this makes me feel,
Why a total stranger take time to deceive
Another person that they don’t know!
Now take your time and use it wisely
Since your scheme is now exposed!

Thanks for shedding light on that scheme! I also have had this pulled on me several times and like you I check and no increase in views. I don’t get it, if they can take the time to right you a message then why not just click the button? I mean how hard can it be? Is it worth the lie and getting found out and losing a good and loyal friend?

    Great poem, BC.

Hey BC, another rant… Honey, I have got to the point with this where I don’t let it bother me anymore. Life’s way too short to sweat the small stuff. You know who your friends are. :)

    BC,
Great poem!!! I’ve had this to happen a few times. I have a sister that reads my stuff all the time, and she’ll tell me how much she liked this one or that one when she sees me, but she doesn’t leave a comment, 0r click the button. She tells me she’s afraid she’ll screw something up on Triond. But I tell her to go a head and click the button and add a comment if she wants to. But so far this hasn’t happened yet. I’m going to tell her to read your poem and maybe just maybe she’ll get the message! At least I hope so anyway. Again, excellent poem.

    Randy

P.S. I got two e-mails from Nick.Glad to see you back!!! I was beginning to wonder.

  • Dee Gold on Feb 12, 2009

    good points

  • Tel Asiado on Feb 12, 2009

    Honest thoughts, greatly penned, BC.
    Believe me, you’re not alone.
In my case, it’s only happening to me in Triond, so it doesn’t really bother me. What’s important is I have found friends here, few, but great ones!

    Keep writing. All the best!

  • Cara Boynton on Feb 12, 2009

Yes, I suppose it happens to all of us. Just keep writing the good stuff as always!

  • Anne Lyken Garner on Feb 12, 2009

    Where did my comment go?

  • Judy Sheldon on Feb 12, 2009

BC, we keep telling them to have a friend, be a friend. You are one true friend that I will always appreciate, if that means anything. Will they ever experience that? You have your loyal followers, and they will have to learn to cultivate theirs. They didn’t spring up overnight. I remember reading & commenting on a lot of articles before I could count my friends on both hands

    Take care & G♥d bless.

  • Christine Ramsay on Feb 12, 2009

I have had this happen as well. However I know there are lots of good friends out there, you being one of the ones I really appreciate. Good poem.

so sad that it happened to you, guess I’m a little bit lucky, receiving not a single tell a lie e-mail, but don;t you worry, god is watching over us, in every deed we make, each one is accountable when the time come, Just don’t mind them and just continue doing your work. I believe you have plenty of genuine friends.

  • CHAN LEE PENG on Feb 12, 2009

Sister, I’m sad to hear that this happens to you. I’ve also received many mails from Trionders asking me to read theirs. They said they liked my works, but I didn’t see their comments. This is very bad…

  • Anne Lyken Garner on Feb 12, 2009

I was on my way out earlier, and left a comment on your piece. When I clicked ’submit’ it disappeared.

What I was going to say was that I receive about four of these messages every day. It annoys me because it makes me feel stupid.

I know that if someone has read your piece and they want you to know they were there, they would surely leave you a comment.

I do sometimes click on uploads like pictures and click the ‘I like it’ button without leaving a comment. However, if I’ve read an article, I certainly would comment on it. Unless it’s so bad that I can’t think of anything good to say:-)

It’s really not nice for people to do this. Either do what you say you’ve done, or leave that person alone.

The sad thing about it is that tomorrow you may get another one of those comments, because the people who do such things, wouldn’t have read this.

  • valli on Feb 12, 2009

I agree with you. There is no need to tell lies in such a trivial situation but it is the nature of some people…Great poem!

  • BC Doan on Feb 12, 2009

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for your comments, and sharing your experience! It is strange how they would take such time to send individual message with lies intended, and feel ok to do so.

Anne–I feel stupid also when I saw the person commented on yours and others while telling me that “they” have no time!

Aah..live and learn and be smarter, I guess!

  • Alicia Wind on Feb 12, 2009

Oh—really? why not do all two…click I like it and leave comments!—

Yeah, i received that kind of message too–and yeah i read their stuff and leave comments, oh—was it a lie??

Well put, I liked the way u described it–straight and powerful!

  • Aspire2 on Feb 12, 2009

I am new to this, but surely it takes almost as long to message someone as to read their contributions and leave a small comment? Then again maybe not!

  • Joni Keith on Feb 12, 2009

I’d like to say not to bother with such petty people, but I know that doesn’t help. I love reading other writer’s work, and I agree, I always leave a comment except in Picable. But I always click the “I Like It” button. I love reading other people’s writing and I generally read all the comments that have been posted. I’m sorry this has happened to you. I’ve always left my comments when reading your posts and look forward to always reading more from you.

  • Kate Smedley on Feb 13, 2009

I think we have all found this unfortunately. Love the way you have put this into a poem.

  • Louie Jerome on Feb 13, 2009

It happens a lot to me too. I even had a couple of messages saying that the writer had spent hours reading all my articles on Triond and and would I read theirs.

What kind of an idiot do they think I am. I have more than 400 articles here and I don’t belueve anyone has systematically read them all.

It would probably take less time to read and leave a message than it does to send a message with an unconvincing lie! I just delete these messages!

So, I know why you are so annoyed about it!

  • nobert soloria bermosa on Feb 13, 2009

just ignore them, afterall they’ll be gone soon,

  • angelonearth2001 on Feb 13, 2009

I can see that we have our own medicine, I love this work you have found the real point. You have great words to share thank you so much. And honest comment bring honest friendship, even if you look at one person work, it is important to make the comment.

  • CA Johnson on Feb 15, 2009

I know your plight because the same thing has happened to me. I have seen people who claim they are too busy to write, but have read my work. I have a lot of articles so there’s no way they read them all. Plus, I have seen them write to other people even though they said that time is limited. This poem is really good. :)

  • trishia on Feb 17, 2009

Thanks for being forthright and honest! Great article here!

  • Likha on Feb 18, 2009

Hit the nail on the head!

  • C Jordan on Feb 19, 2009

    Well said.

  • shashawanahya on Feb 24, 2009

People who do this will have the same thing done right back to them. You can’t do bad and expect good to come out of it. Keep your head up.

  • coker on Feb 26, 2009

i\’m new at this but that is immediatly how i started feeling about my works…nail on head….great job by the way…;)*S*

  • coker on Feb 26, 2009

b c…always know that i had to come back a second time because i forgot to click “i liked it”…..with that being said….click!

  • Edward J Rodrigues on Mar 4, 2009

I also felt the same…but its ok…i cant see the other side, what they are going through. It might be there is a bad string error, server would be down or the internet is slow.

    thanks for the comment BC.

  • Tmrobotix on Mar 6, 2009

    *grinns*
That’s a nice piece, made me laugh!

  • Ruby Hawk on Mar 11, 2009

I liked it and you sent out a very good message that speaks for most of us I think. There are errors though. I sometimes look back on an article I know I left a comment on and it is not there.That\’s what happened here, I left a comment on this page or tried to weeks ago.

  • MMV Abad on Mar 12, 2009

I too, always received these “cute” messages. “I’m a big fan… can you read mine?” I just say sure, “Thanks for being a fan.”
But I do check their work once.. then just that!

Although there is one Trionder, belonging to the hot list that hurt much of my feelings. I did like his work. Then, he gave me a deceitful link for his own benefit. He did this twice. The third time, I ignored his message. I am still keeping him as a friend. I really do not try to comment on his stuff anymore, since he never once leave a comment or look at my stuff.

You are so good at this BC! I mean, you always make my comment to be this long… and I can’t help it :)

Well, good luck with these spammers! Have a nice evening :)

  • Jake O on Apr 8, 2009

    Interesting poem here. Good work.

  • jamesII on Apr 21, 2009

I like to imagine it is far better for the poetic thirsty mind to search this site for the Gold of poetry and not just friends. You are a clever writer. You understates your intentions quite well. I agree with most of your language. The piece works as a poem but
is addressed in explaining. Still, I have to admire the “tell it like it is” style. Keep writing! Good Luck!

  • SpencerC on Apr 26, 2009

It is too bad that some people have so much of their life to waste on lies. I try to comment on most articles as I love to recieve them, good or bad, they are always very helpful. Thanks for the great rant.

  • Mr Ghaz on May 17, 2009

Wonderful!..That was lovely and well written poem..LOV it..Thanks for sharing this great stuff.

  • Phoenix Montoya on Aug 1, 2010

  • Phoenix Montoya on Aug 1, 2010

Oh… and read MMV Abad’s comment again. She is such a cry baby lol… Have a nice time my friend.
