A poem about the evolution of spirituality. Closing the bible and seeing God.

The covers of my story are closing.

The beginning is finished as

My end moves closer

To the middle.

Like hands closing slowly

on a leather-bound classic.

I pray after revelations

I’ll see a new beginning.

Every failure was your attempt

at a successful lesson

I ignored you when you said

my life wasn’t my own

being so much more

than flesh and bone

Here I am,

   broken like before.

I wonder if

I can still confide in you?

I’ve sinned

and I no longer care.

and with that admission

The shackles of my religion

are broken

leaving me free to search out

the meaning of blasphemy.

 A faint voice deep inside

pulled me further

I pressed my eyes

beyond dreams

and imagining

and caught a glimpse

of something.

It was bright as a star

and it felt like

that moment

when you understand

that evolution

was apart of

your master plan.

You were there smiling

and said

Lets discuss genesis.

Your flow continues to capture the imagery that this prose is destined to bring to the readers. Very well done! Your title nearly lead me away and I am so glad I stayed to fully enjoy the contents.
