I’ve been accused of having big feet. The truth is they’re not big, they’re huge. I have huge feet, so do my parents and my grandparents and everybody in my family except my sister which is OK with me because I didn’t have to share my shoes with her growing up! The point is, I learned to love my big feet – I see them as a symbol of stability and strength. Who would argue with me? I might kick them and nobody wants that lol.

You tell me I have big feet
Like it’s a bad thing
I have a good understanding
Just ask my dad
And my grandma says
God made me this way for a reason
I come from a long line of big feet
You can ask my mother
We are strong people
And my family loves me
My partner, my kids
Not anyway, but because
My feet are big
I can handle more
I’m stable, I’m grounded, I’m ready
And I kick butt
With my big feet

I just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone for being so encouraging. When I first decided to publish my articles via Triond I was really nervous because I was afraid my stuff might not be up to par – I still have a little anxiety attack when I go to submit something. It’s great that the people here are so friendly and supportive, it makes me feel comfortable to write and share more. Thank you.

  • ashan1614 on Jan 27, 2011

This poem indeed made me smile. I have pretty large feet myself and (people keep telling me) very large hands for a woman. But you know what? I am fearfully and wonderfully made – just as the Creator intended. Keep writing and welcome to Triond!

  • lxdollarsxl on Jan 27, 2011

yes this made me laugh inside, people can always be counted on to make one feel belittled, when it is in fact the only ones they do that to are themselves, we are what we are and that should be enough for anyone.

  • Gail Nobles on Jan 27, 2011

Some athletes like Laila Ali (Dancing With the Stars) have big feet. It did not stop her from getting married. It’s okay.
