Sometimes we would rather just flee at the first sign of insecurity in a new relationship. We may find it easier to do so than to stay and give it time to grow. We neither have the will nor the brevity to to see where it may lead and to give love a fighting chance.
Bimbo of Love
When little things seem oh so big, like mountains at your feet
Do you decide to scale them or decline?
Do you begin to shovel and remove them from your path
Before you see that it’s a waste of time?
Some say that love is like a slope- you always slide back down
Or stay forever climbing like a mule
A bimbo on the hill of love who never made his mark
And stayed just shy of the summit like a fool
When new love is a pain to bear and too much for your mind
Do you decide to throw it all away
Or do you leave some room for growth and let the flower bloom
Before you pack your gear and go astray?
When someone’s love is meant for you, do you pick up on the signs
Or do you just pretend that you don’t care
In hopes that it will all soon end and give you time to run
So you can dump that flag you had to bear?
I hear that often love goes wrong and hearts will break and fall
‘Cause sometimes they cannot be wild and free
But when love stands behind you and gets you up that hill
You know that somehow it was meant to be
So give it every chance you can and you will know it’s true
‘Cause only something real will reach that high
Then plant your flag upon it and claim it as your own
And don’t look back until you touch the sky
